Now with direct flights from the UK to the North East of Spain, the City of Saragossa is one of the most important cities of the Ebro Valley in the region of Aragon.
In the middle ages the City of Aragon was the capital city of the Kingdom of Aragon; it was here at the Cathedral of La Seo that the ancient Kings were crowned at the start of their reign. Steeped in History and Art the City of Saragossa has a brilliant historic past of art and architecture from Roman times, Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque to the Neo-Classical the city has them all.
Within the Roman old City you have Roman sculptures ceramics to beautiful Roman Mosaics. Along side you have a grand selection of Gothic masterpieces in Gothic Mudejar Style architecture, such as the Cathedral of San Salvador (La Seo) and Churches of San Pablo, La Magdalena, San Miguel and Sangil. You have other religious monuments like the Church of Saint Engracia with its Renaissance facade and Crypt. Also you have the ancient Seminaro De San Carlos with its beautiful Baroque Altarpiece. The most outstanding religious monuments in the City of Saragossa is the Basilica of the Pillar "El Pilar" where the image of the Virgin Mary is venerated also within the Basilica itself you have Cupolas painted by Goya. Strolling in Saragossa is a tradition which is a natural activity which can be done every day and the City seems to be designed to invite you to stroll. Strolling and shopping go hand in hand where you can easily succumb to the temptations on offers in the shops. Eating out in Saragossa If you get a bit weary with the strolling and shopping you can follow the city's other tradition of snacking, it is a passion here in Saragossa with hundreds of places traditional and modern which offer a list of specialties of snacks from popular Spanish classical casseroles to ingenious combinations of sauces, shell fish, sausages or with cheeses served on pieces of fresh bread.
