Slovenia, officially the Republic of Slovenia is a tiny country, with a surface area of just over 20,000 sq km and less than two million people.
I travelled to Slovenia a couple of years ago and would highly recommend it.
Good things come in small packages and never was a saying more appropriate than describing Slovenia, an independent republic bordering Italy, Hungary and Croatia.
Lake Bonhinj is a large and much less developed glacial lake 26km to the South West of Bled, which feature's diverse activities like kayaking, mountain biking and climbing the famous Mt Triglav.
The Cow's ball
On the third weekend in September there is an event called "The Cow's Ball" which Traditionally marks the return of the cows to the valley after Spring and Summer on the highland pastures.
The annual ball has now degenerated into a day-long knees up of folk dance and music, eating and drinking, haggling over baskets, painted beehive panels and bowls carved out of tree roots, Slovenia is a fantastic country.
