Starting from the 20th century Bled has been the countrys travel centre,
with many attractions offered to its visitors.
Bled is a famous Slovenian ski and balneal resort which stands by a mountain
lake. The place is filled with a special fabulous atmosphere. Surrounded by
forests and mountains, it is often called the real pearl of Slovenia.

its beauty. At winter time the lake is covered with snow and lots of people come
here to skate. You will also enjoy skating at the citys Ice Hall an indoor
ice rink. New Year is the best time to visit the Hall, as there wonderful ice
entertainment organised at the rink.
As you can understand, Bled is an ideal location for active winter vacations.
The skiing season starts in the end of December and lasts till the end of April.
The nearest ski track Straza, is found 150 km from the centre of Bled. Its
length is 1000 meters, the height ranges from 503 to 634 meters. The track is
equipped with a chairlift. Skiing lessons are also offered. To get to the
Straza, use free buses that set off from many resorts hotels.
Situated not far from the Bled lake (at about 15 km distance), Pokljuka is a
well-known plateau where they hold World Cup Biathlon.
In addition to well-equipped ski tracks, the resort offers ski equipment
rental offices, numerous shops and restaurants. And if you are fond of night
entertainment, you will like local clubs, bars and discos.
Another good way to spend your time at Bled is to make a fiacre ride around
the lake. Summer time is perfect for a boat trip. And if you prefer active
sports, visit local fitness centers, tennis-courts, or hire a bicycle. There is
also one of the best and the oldest golf clubs found in Bled.
The resort is a perfect place for those fond of horseriding guests can take
advantage of numerous clubs, horseriding schools and a race track not far from
Bled.
There are two beaches located by the lake so, having bathed in invigorating
waters of lake Bled, go to observe local natural attractions. One of them is the
Triglav National Park which is renowned not only for its excellent ecology,
incredible and diversified landscapes and a border with two countries: Italy and
Austria, but also for the fact that the highest mountain in Slovenia,
three-headed Triglav mountain is located here. Its peak (2864 meters high) is
depicted on the countrys flag.
Extreme lovers have long been attracted by local parks, where one will find
deep gorges of Mlinaritz, Tolminka and Vintgar, high ridges of the Julian Alps,
Pokljuka valley, picturesque Lakes Valley, magnificent Savica and Pericnik
waterfalls and of course impetuous Soca and Sava rivers.
Tourists of various interests come to spend their time here. For instance,
mountain-climbers can subdue mountain peaks that lie on the Slovenian Alpine
road whereas fishermen can relax by one of numerous local ponds and reservoirs.
As for those who are fond of trekking, they can make their way to the house of
the deity that rules the sky and the land to the Triglavs peak. Bikers are
advised to make a ride around the Bled, Bohin and Otocec suburbs.
Well, to cut the story short , anyone fond of nature will find a proper entertainment in Bled.
