With the on-set of wet and cold weather, I decided to escape to a warmer climate over festive period, I had booked a flight to Portugal and the Algarve was just a short flight away.
I arrived early at Glasgow Airport to catch the six am flight to Faro and was really looking forward to escaping to blue skies, sunshine and Portugese hospitality.
The aircraft touched down at Faro airport in the mid morning, but it took ages to get through customs, with the sun shining you wouldn't believe it was just four days short of Christmas, by the time I arrived at the Hotel Tropical Sol in Albufeira it was early afternoon.
My self catering room looked clean and bright, one rule I have after arriving at strange hotel is to find where the fire exit and main exit are in relation to my room, just a precaution but I feel it's worth it as you can never be too careful.
I Woke up to sunshine clear blue skies and thought of the Scottish weather.
I decided to have a walk along sea front and found some great beaches, quiet at this time of the year, as I watched the waves coming direct in from the Atlantic seaboard, I was glad I had left Scotland behind.
I Walked back into town and came upon the Marina, very impressive.
I found the local market and superstores reasonably priced, clean and to high standard, the shopping area is very good for families and couples alike.
Walking in the fresh air gives you a health appetite and I headed to a pub I noticed earlier, the Celtic and Kilt was a football theme pub.
I sat down to a pub lunch, the food was quite superb, but just too much for me, I had to leave half of it.
Over all the holiday was very good, the beach very clean, surrounding area, the Marina, the fisher men working at their nets, ideal photographic opportunities abound in this area.
