The Terracotta Warriors lay undiscovered for thousands of years until local peasants near the City of XIN reported the find to authorities in 1974
This find turned out to be one of the major archaeology discoveries of the 20th century.
The Great Wall of China wasn’t complete until the Ming Dynasty of the 14th century, it was at this period that Beijing became the main capital of China and the Palace of Ming and Qing became the Forbidden City, anyone not attatched to the palace was put to death if found inside.
The Emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasty had their summer residence in Beijing and this became to be known as the Summer Palace as much of this area is now parkland and lakes, a very pleasant setting in modern China |
