Dundee Girl, Skye Greig, was presented with a Royal Scottish Geographical Society University Medal by Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal on Tuesday 17th January. The award was presented at the Perth Concert Hall, as part of The Princess Royal's visit to RSGS headquarters in The Fair Maid's House education and visitor centre.

The RSGS University Medal is awarded to the best graduating honours geography student in each of the Scottish universities, being intended to provide essential support to young researchers, and to encourage excellence in the field of geographical research in Scotland. Skye was put forward by her lecturers at Strathclyde University in recognition of her dissertation work, Discontent and Dystopianism in the Neo-Liberal City: A 'Literary Geography' Study of Postmodern Glasgow Fiction. Skye has chosen to carry on her studies at Strathclyde University this year, working towards an MSc in Sustainability and Environmental Studies.

Also receiving a University Medal was a Dundee University graduate, Carlyn Stewart. Carlyn received the award in recognition of her dissertation A hydromorphological assessment of the water supply reservoirs in the Pentland Hills.
