Chris Law is to stand for the SNP in Dundee West SNP in the General Election, it was announced today.

Chris Law (45) a local businessman who employs a small team in the financial sector, was a leading Yes campaigner during the referendum and founder of the Spirit of Independence road tour of communities in a refurbished fire engine, which attracted national and international interest.

Dundee West is a key target seat for the SNP in the General Election and Chris Law, who has lived in the West End for 30 years, began his first campaigning session as Prospective Parliamentary Candidate alongside local SNP MSP Joe FitzPatrick and Dundee East MP Stewart Hosie, Depute Leader of the SNP.

Speaking today in Lochee, Chris Law said: "It is an honour and a privilege to have been selected to carry the SNP banner in Dundee West and I will work hard to win the seat and take the campaign to every door in the constituency.

"It is the last piece of the jigsaw for Dundee and I'm determined to be a strong voice for the people of Dundee West at Westminster."

Over 1500 SNP members in the Dundee West Westminster constituency were eligible to vote in the selection by the one-member-one vote, preference system organised by MI-Vote over the last three weeks and the five candidates competing for the nomination took part in hustings events in the city, with the result announced over the weekend.
