John ReidJohn Reid has taken over the lead role at the helm of Dundee's operations from Trevor Haines and will begin in his new post with immediate effect from 1 January 2010. With over 20 years of experience at Michelin – with a vast majority of that time spent at the Dundee plant – Scottish born Mr Reid represents a home-grown appointment to the Dundee factory's lead role and he is looking forward to the challenge ahead posed by his new post.

Mr Reid, said: "Having spent a large degree of my working life here at the Dundee plant,I am truly honoured to be taking on this very prestigious role. I am looking forward to continuing the success story we have here at Dundee and leading the factory into a bright and productive future. We do face some major challenges for 2010 given the current global economic climate but I am confident we as a team here at Dundee will rise to that challenge and continue to deliver the quality, productivity and excellence that underpins all the work we do here at the Dundee site."

The Baldovie Road plant's former Factory Manager Trevor Haines – who has worked at the Michelin Dundee factory for five years – moves on to a new Business Risk Management role working for Michelin Group headquarters in Clermont Ferrand. Mr Haine says his new role will involve "responsibility for managing audits of our industrial risk management at Group level working from Clermont Ferrand and Dundee."

The Dundee factory manufactures over 7,000,000 car tyres each year for export all over the world. Opened in 1972 it currently employs just under 1,000 people. In 2006 Dundee was the first Michelin factory in the world to embrace wind energy with two wind turbine generators helping to reduce its environmental impact and energy bills at the plant.
