The White Lady of Claypots Castle

The ghostly figure of Marion Ogilvy is thought to be the white lady of claypots castle.

Dundee's most famous ghost has been frequently seen on the 29th of May waving a handkerchief from a window at Claypot's castle.

Marion Ogilvy's lover Cardinal Beaton was burnt in St Andrews - on 29 May 1546 and the ghostly white lady is said to be his mistress waving towards the Fife Town.

Marion Ogilvy, daughter of the First Lord Ogilvy of Airlie’s fourth wife. was referred to as chief lewd, though she may have been married to Beaton in secret, before he became a cardinal.

Following Cardinal Beaton's death, Marion spent the rest of her life managing affairs at Melgund castle and  left more than £3,000, including £1,000 in cash when she died.
