Third Party car Insurance is the legal minimum level of insurance and covers only injury, damage or loss to other people and their property. You will not be insured against personal loss or injury, irrespective of how such loss or injury was caused. If your car is damaged, the cost of repair or replacement is entirely down to you. This level of insurance gets you on the road at minimum cost.
Third Party, Fire and Theft car Insurance Third party, fire and theft is essentially the same as third party , but with the addition of cover against liability for loss of the car through theft or fire. If you do make a fire or theft claim, you will probably have to pay an excess to cover part of the cost. You will not be insured against personal injury, as with third party, the cost of repair or replacement car is entirely down to you. Fully Comprehensive car Insurance Fully Comprehensive is the most expensive level of insurance, but it covers you against most eventualities. In particular, it protects you from the cost of repairs to your car if it is damaged in an accident, and any medical expenses resulting from the accident. Depending on the terms of the policy it may also include such things as windscreen cover, theft of items from inside the vehicle and provision of a hire car if yours is damaged in an accident. You will probably have to pay an excess in the event of a claim. |
