While Dougie MacLean was performing in concert in England and Wales this weekend, preparations were being made for the release of his new DVD "SongMaker" to stores throughout Scotland.
Dougie MacLean's long awaited DVD "SongMaker" is a great collection of songs. The focus is on acoustic versions of the songs which are filmed at Dougie's home in Butterstone and performed with various members of Dougie's band. There are also two bonus videos one filmed in the Perthshire hills and one on the west coast of the Isle of Lewis which would sit comfortably on MTV! Songs include: Some Hearts, Feel So Near, Broken Wings, Talking with my Father, Caledonia, Ready for the Storm, Rescue Me, Marching Mystery, Holding Back, This Love Will Carry, Not Look Down and Another Time. If the DVD hasn't reached your local store yet you can buy it online from www.dougiemaclean.com … and even request Dougie to sign and personalise it for you!
The release of the DVD is timed well for the hosts of visitors to Scotland over the summer who have enjoyed Dougie MacLean concerts in venues throughout the world from the Festival Theatre in London to the Sydney Opera House and New York's Carnegie Hall. MacLean's song "Caledonia" which formed the musical bed of last years Homecoming TV advert (featuring Sean Connery, Lulu and Chris Hoy among others!) has also been covered by hosts of artists of late including Amy Macdonald and Paolo Nutini.
Another influx is expected in the autumn for Perthshire Amber- the Dougie MacLean Festival 2010. Now in its sixth year this 10-day festival has been described as "A festival with vision and imagination...and great momentum!" (Press & Journal) and "unique festival which shares inspiring music, celebrates
the history and culture of Perthshire and showcases beautiful scenery".(Scotsman). Tickets are flying out the door already for the event. You can get full information about the festival and tickets on www.perthshireamber.com
