A star-studded tribute concert to Luciano Pavarotti held in honour of the late tenor, and a series of operas from the world-renowned Italian opera house Teatro Alla Scala are being released in selected Scottish cinemas spring/summer by More2Screen. /span>>/>/span>>/>/span>>/>/span>>/>/span>>/>
The Pavarotti Tribute concert, entitled The Tribute to Pavarotti – One Amazing Weekend in Petra, brought together stars from the classical and popular worlds on what would have been Pavarotti’s 73rd birthday, to perform in front of a glittering crowd of musicians, celebrities and royalty at world heritage site Petra, Jordan.
Against a breathtaking natural amphitheatre, Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras sang together for the first time since Pavarotti's death heralded the end of the "Three Tenors". Andrea Boccelli performed from Tosca, and was joined by others to sing from Puccini's La Boheme; whilst Sting performed "La Ci Darem" from Don Giovanni with opera star Angela Gheorghiu, and U2 frontman Bono gave a tribute message to the master. Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling and the Pavilion Cinema in Galashiels will be showing the concert.
In Dundee, four productions from the world-class opera house La Scala will be shown as an opera season at Dundee Contemporary Arts. Celebrated productions La Traviata, Maria Stuarda, Il Trittico and Don Carlo will screen one a month in May–August, giving audiences the opportunity to enjoy incredible international opera at their local cinema.
The Tribute to Pavarotti – One Amazing Weekend in Petra and La Scala operas will be shown in high definition and surround sound.
