Inaugural conference being hosted at Dens Park to offer advice to coaches from Tayside and Fife -
Budding football coaches from Tayside and Fife will be offered advice by Scotland under-21 boss Archie Knox and St Johnstone manager Owen Coyle at a conference in Dundee this weekend (Sun, Aug 12).
The pair will be joined by the SFA’s Head of Youth Development Neil Mackintosh to address fellow coaches at the SFA’s inaugural East Region Football Partnership Coaching Conference at Dens Park on Sunday. Aimed at coaches from Tayside and Fife working across all levels of football, the conference will consist of a variety of coaching sessions as well as a discussion forum.
SFA Regional Manager Mark Munro, who is organising the course, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming coaches of the calibre of Archie, Owen and Neil to our inaugural Football Partnership Coaching Conference.
“The conference is aimed at the many coaches who do so much terrific work in this region and are interested in developing their knowledge of football coaching. Whether they are involved in school, club or youth football, and whether they work in girls or boys football, all are welcome and will be given practical advice to help develop their coaching skills as well as the chance to take part in the discussion forum with our experts.”
The event – which lasts from 10am until 3.30pm – has been organised by the SFA East Region and is being delivered as a part of the SFA’s Youth Action Plan. It costs £8 per person, with lunch provided, and is open to all coaches working in the East region – though places are being filled quickly so prior booking is encouraged.
Mark Munro continues: “It is our objective to try to both create and improve quality opportunities in football for all. There are hundreds of unsung heroes in the East region helping us do this – coaches, parents, teachers and volunteers – who give up much of their free time to help kids develop football skills and enjoy the game.
“The coaching conference in Dundee is aimed at providing them with further knowledge and coaching techniques which will help them continue the excellent work they are already doing.”
To sign up to the Dundee coaching conference visit the SFA’s Football Central website – www.footballcentral.org - and download the application form contained within the East pages under the heading Coach Development.
