 The University of Abertay Dundee is pleased to present the work of Scottish sculptor Doug Cocker. Based in Angus Doug Cocker has built up an international reputation with his work exhibited in both public and private collections in Britain and North America.
This latest body of work considers new approaches to construction and form, a recent tour of Europe taking him to the boundaries of the North Sea and the Baltic has inspired new conversations. The juxtaposing of textures in their construction give his sculptures a robustness and confidence, but in translation the material, primarily wood, shows high levels of craftsmanship and finish taking this natural material to a more complex and delicate place.
