People in Dundee will have a chance to see a ground breaking comedy show which brings together Arab and Israeli actors for a humorous and irreverent look at the conflict in the Middle East.
Unique in bringing together Arab and Israeli actors – including a Palestinian refugee and a former Israeli Army Officer – ‘The Arab, The Jew and the Chicken’ plays for one night only on the 3rd of March at Dundee University Students Association before going on to tour other parts the UK and an International comedy festival in Luxembourg.
“By satirising the more ridiculous elements of the conflict between Arabs and Jews, we want to make people laugh but also challenge the pre-conceptions and prejudices these communities often have about one another, whether they live here or in the Middle East” said Ofer Yatziv, Co-founder of Conflictrelief, the Arab-Israeli theatre company behind the production.
The sketches that make up the show combine biting satire with fast moving physical theatre and clever use of music.
No area of the conflict in the Middle East is out of bounds. The siege on Gaza, terrorism, politics, tunnels check points and more.
“This deadlock in the Middle East is serving no one and we must find new ways to unite the people and get them talking to each other. Comedy can help achieve that,” said Palestinian Conflict Relief Actor Nour Alkawaja.
Tickets for the show, which is on the 3rd of march, 5.30 pm at Dundee University Students Association cost £4 and are available from the box office or call 07976428736
