A huge public art event currently capturing the public's imagination is the “Oor Wullie” bucket trail, a total of 55 individually decorated statues featuring the nations favourite son have been placed at various locations throughout the city.
Trail maps and a digital app are available at http://www.oorwulliebuckettrail.com to enable the folks of Dundee and visitors to the city to go out and find all 55 sculptures and to strike them off their ‘bucket’ list, the one pictured above is at the front door of the verdant works.
The event has already drawn media attention with one statue being vandalised and another found with a bloodied syringe hidden in it's base, don't let this discourage you ticking off your bucket list, simply be more vigilant when taking your “selfie” or photographing children around the statues.
Sadly, discarded hypodermic needles have become a familiar sight and simply another hazard for the public to be aware of in Dundee.
The trail is helping raise money for the Archie Foundation’s campaign to get a new operating suite at Tayside Children’s Hospital.
