RRS Discovery is a rare survival of Dundee's shipbuilding past, constructed 16th March 1900 by the Dundee Shipbuilders Company the ship will always be associcated with the ill fated voyage of captain Scott.

RRS Discovery is 172 feet long, 34 feet wide and 485 tons unladed and was the last wooden three masted ship to be built.

Launched into the Firth of Tay on 21st of March 1901 by Lady Markham.

The expedition to Antarctic was led by Robert Falcon Scott and it lasted from 1901-1904.

Years on and the Discovery was faced with another two expeditions.

The Discovery Oceanographic Expedition 1925-1927 and The BANZAR Expedition 1929-1931.

Returning to Dundee in 1985 the Discovery is now owned by the Dundee Heritage Trust.

Its fate to become a museum ship.

Permanantly docked the amazing Discovery with a visitors centre opposite is in its hometown, allowing all old and new to discover its past.
