As part of its ongoing commitment to the education sector, Steljes, the innovative technology distributor, is delighted to announce it has signed a two year agreement with the University of Dundee to provide interactive technologies and training support to its School of Education, Social Work and Community Education. Under the terms of the agreement, Steljes will be supporting the University in gaining SMART Sub-Certified Training Centre status and to deliver appropriate training to student teachers at level 2/3.

The modern teaching environment embraces the use of technology to enhance learning outcomes but little has been done to ensure that graduate teachers are already competent in the use of interactive technologies before they start teaching in the classroom. The University of Dundee has taken the initiative by providing a dedicated training room complete with four SMART Board™ interactive whiteboards and included an element on SMART Board training in each level of its BEd course and also on the PGDE programmes.

Yolande Muschamp, Dean of the School of Education, Social Work and Community Education says “The University of Dundee prides itself on being at the forefront of pedagogy and our agreement with Steljes will allow us to strengthen our position as one of Scotland’s leading providers of education. Our BEd and PGDE programmes lay the foundation for teachers to become competent, thoughtful, reflective and innovative practitioners and gain proficiency in their use of interactive technologies in the classroom. With the growing emphasis from the government on improving the quality of teacher training, I believe that our model will be seen as one of best practice and will enhance teaching practice in schools. We also intend through the partnership with Steljes to roll this training out across the School, the University and wider in – service training provision as part of our CPD portfolio.”

With almost twenty five years experience, Steljes has become one of the leading suppliers to the education market. Steljes is committed to sourcing new innovative technologies that encourage diversity in learning and incorporate new approaches to help facilitate step changes in achievement.

Commenting on the agreement, Martine Dodwell-Bennett, Sales and Marketing Director at Steljes says “Steljes has enjoyed a longstanding relationship with the University of Dundee and this partnership will provide the university with a world class teaching environment. “
