Barnardo’s recently held a Foster carer appreciation night in Dundee with local foster carers attending.
The event consisted of a dinner and a thank you video from fostered children to mark their involvement with the charity and the importance of fostering. At the event, there were 78 balloons, symbolising the 78 children currently fostered in Dundee and messages that the children wrote about how it feels to be part of a foster family.
Operational Manager for Barnardo’s Scotland Fostering, Kim McPherson, said:
“These events are a great way to thank the foster carers for choosing to open up their hearts and their lives to children. There is no better gift to give a child than a family and these people have offered that. They are incredible for changing the children's lives and we appreciate everything they do so we wanted to give something back to them this year and show our appreciation.
The children wrote lovely messages and the balloons were a poignant symbol of the hard work everybody has done so far, however, more foster carers are desperately needed to give more children and young people loving, stable care and homes.”
